Cornerstone Anglican Church Box Hill

Pray for this exciting new church plant in a Greenfields area of Sydney, where thousands of people are anticipated to move in the next two decades.

The Box Hill church plant is starting in early 2024. Rev Chris Mann, his wife Helen and their children, along with 50-60 adults and kids will meet as a team, praying and planning for the new church in Box Hill. In Term 2 they plan to soft launch the church plant by starting normal Sunday gatherings with the team, before publicly launching Lord willing, later in 2024.

The driving motivation for the plant is based on Matthew 9:36: “When he [Jesus] saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.”

Chris is excited to see what God might do in this growing area of Sydney. He has a heart to see the people in the great sea of houses from Box Hill and beyond come to know Jesus. He is also excited about the people joining the launch team, pooled from a handful of generous churches around the area including Pitt Town and Rouse Hill.

Chris is very aware that many are the plans we can make, but ultimately it is God’s purposes that will prevail. Join them in praying they would hold their plans for 2024 loosely and walk in obedience with where God leads.

Some ways to pray:

  • Give thanks! Chris is thankful for the gospel generosity he has already seen at work in people, churches and the diocese.
  • Please pray for Chris’s family and the new team – that they would walk closely with the Lord and that He would guard their hearts as they seek to be united in this gospel endeavour.
  • Pray for the hearts of the people in the area. Pray they would be softened and open to the great gospel message.
  • Pray for the practical needs of the plant – for people to join and for material needs to be supplied (like a place to meet).

How can you be involved?
