Student Minister Update: Trace Akankunda

Trace is a student minister at Living Water, and offers some reflections on his year of ministry there so far.

“I have now spent one term at Living water church, having come from the Lower Mountains Anglican parish in Glenbrook last year. I have enjoyed the family feel to our small gathering comparatively and the diversity across ethnic and age groups. I get to work with youths on Thursdays and I have loved getting to know them as we kick a ball around at Redfern park or go for a swim in the many beaches around Sydney.

I love how unguarded the young people are and I am learning the significance of building trust with them as a steppingstone to sharing Jesus with them. I love the cafe style church we run on Saturday evenings because it creates a casual non threatening space for people to walk in and join us in worshipping God.

Recently I have been amazed at the number of new faces that check us out and my prayer is that we will so love them practically and with the gospel that they will be encouraged to stay with us as we learn together of the great love that God has revealed to us through his son Jesus.”
